Setting up LinkSync

LinkSync is designed to run from your iPhone’s Action Button or any iOS Shortcut. After installing:

  1. Open LinkSync once to complete the brief onboarding.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to add LinkSync to your Action Button (Settings > Action Button > Shortcut > LinkSync) or set up a custom Shortcut.
  3. Copy a music link from Apple Music or Spotify.
  4. Press your Action Button (or run the Shortcut) — the converted link will open automatically.

Once configured, you never need to open the LinkSync app again. The conversion happens entirely in the background.

Frequently asked questions

LinkSync only converts links from the official Apple Music and Spotify catalogs. If a song is region-restricted, not available on the target service, or the link format is unsupported, the conversion may fail. Try:

Do I need an Apple Music or Spotify account?

No. LinkSync uses public lookup endpoints to find matching tracks. You don’t need to sign in to either service to use LinkSync — although you’ll need the corresponding app installed to actually play the converted link.

Does LinkSync collect my data?

The free app does not: it creates no account, collects no personal information, and never tracks usage. The optional Premium subscription is the only part that stores data — when you sign in with Apple, it keeps a private history of the links people send you, tied to your own account and visible only to you. If you create a profile, friends see only what you choose to share. You can delete your account and all of that data anytime from Profile → Account → Delete account. Who can see my profile?

Your profile is private by default. Other LinkSync users can find you only by searching for your @username (the first few letters are enough), and only if you’ve chosen one. Your display name is shown only if you turn on “Photo, name & bio,” and your bio and stats are shown only to friends if you turn those on. Your link history and the names you give your senders are never shown to anyone. Change these anytime under Profile → Edit profile → Share with friends.

How do I report or block someone?

Open their profile and tap Report or Block. Reports are private — the person isn’t told who reported them — and we review every report within 24 hours. Blocking stops them from finding you, seeing your profile, or sending you requests, and they aren’t told. You can unblock people under Profile → Blocked users.

How do notifications work?

Premium can notify you when someone sends you a friend request or accepts yours. Turn them on in Settings → Notifications, and choose which kinds you want there. LinkSync never sends ads or promotional notifications. If you said no to the iPhone prompt earlier, turn them on in the iPhone Settings app → LinkSync → Notifications. Signing out stops notifications on that device.

What platforms does LinkSync support?

LinkSync is currently available on iOS. Android support is not currently planned.

Is LinkSync free?

Yes — converting links is free forever, with no ads. LinkSync also offers an optional Premium subscription that adds a private, synced history of the links people send you. Premium is entirely optional; you never need it to convert links. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
